a sofa table goes from contemporary to classic

good morning! I hope your Christmas was lovely! Mine was pretty splendid if I do say so myself. It was a great few days with friends and family.
I’m feeling a little under the weather but I did manage to take down all of our Christmas decorations and finish up a few projects… hmm which in hindsight might be why I feel a little knackered.

Here’s a simple black contemporary sofa table that I picked up from one of my yard sale sites. Double B took a ride with me about a week before Christmas and I could tell she was questioning my vision. I was a little too, haha!

I started this piece the day after Christmas. I took a gamble and sanded the top, hoping that the wood underneath was solid. I was right! I finished off by staining & sealing it and painting the body with Annie Sloan’s Old Ochre. It really started to come together when I added the red and white vintage drawer liner… and even more when the classic boxwood vases, antique wood boxes and linen lamps were added in.
